Is the Masonic Entered Apprentice degree easy?
I will only speak from my own experience as an American Co-Mason (we are a bit more esoteric and also admit women and men to all degrees and rites). Other Orders of Freemasonry are sure to chime in here, as well.
I am older, I was 57 when I entered the Lodge. I found the memorization a bit daunting. There was only the negative mind-talk I had inside myself regarding that. So it took me about 9 months before I put in to be tested. We require you to be an EA for at least 5 months, but I took longer. With American Co-Masonry, we open in First Degree, so I was attending Lodge all that time. One has the job of subdueing one's passions as an Entered Apprentice and I think that was part of mine.
Other than that, as my WJW said, all you have to do is stand up, salute when you are supposed to, and sing the songs. Not much. *grin* Yep, now when you get to be a Master Mason, then they expect things out of you.
Best of luck and remember that subduing does not mean getting rid of, it only means being responsible for. Whichever Order of Freemasonry you are in, each Degree brings with it lessons.
