It was supposed to be a cause for celebration, but instead the transference of Padre Pio's body to a "glitzy" Novus Ordo crypt has outraged venerators. 42 years after the remains were originally buried, they were exhumed and removed to Puglia, in Italy's southeast, to a gauche Novus Ordo crypt, complete with a ghastly Novus Ordo dinner table, which Pio hated. In protest, Padre Pio's venerators stayed away from the transference ceremony.
The coffin now rests in its new 500-square-metre crypt, having been removed, over the objections of family and many venerators, after 42 years from its crypt of Pio's beloved Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Benedict-Ratzinger personally overruled family and venerators and personally inaugurated the objected-to new crypt.
It is well known that Padre Pio hated the Freemason presbyter Hannibal Bugnini's "modernizations" that led from the Mess of 1962 up to the invalid Novus Ordo service of 1969.
